Product Name Analysis:
Galaxy as a brand name is, clearly, a reference to the Mars company's astronomical name. Given that the "Galaxy" line in Europe is the equivalent of America's "Dove" products (which are known for using higher quality chocolate than other Mars candies), I'm guessing that the name "Galaxy" is supposed to give an aura of importance to the chocolate. There are, of course, implications that the caramel bar is "out of this world."
Packaging Analysis:
The package is brown with a warm wave of gold and orange snaking through it. It looks like melted chocolate through which runs a river of caramel. I found myself really drawn to the golden stripe--it's warm and happy looking. A room painted that color would invariably have cheerful inhabitants. Does it make me greedy to think that gold is the color of happiness? Maybe I should talk about something else before I become a modern day version of Midas. The word "caramel" is written in a soft, curving font that implies unctuousness, and the letters are mainly white with orange-gold shadows. The packaging is simple, but it holds rich, lush implications about the product beneath.
Visual Analysis:
The package contains two long, skinny bars of milk chocolate, each of which can be broken into three sections. The top of each section is imprinted with a swirl-y-looking "G" with a stripe above and beneath. The bottom of each segment is completely smooth.
Flavor Analysis:
Sweet and milky. The chocolate is higher quality than most that is used for candy bars. The caramel flavoring is pleasant, although I prefer my caramel a bit dark with slightly burnt notes, and this is more golden and delicate.
Mouthfeel:
The chocolate is very soft and the caramel is thoroughly satiny.
Summary:
Some of the better milk chocolate that I've tasted in a candy bar. The smoothness of the chocolate is admirable. This is a pleasant product.
